The Challenge
The concept for ELLE Bulgaria was a play on the words "winter is coming" — shot in the middle of peak summer season, on a beach full of tourists. The model needed to look fully dressed for winter: hat, ski gear, cold-weather styling — while the background stayed unmistakably, distractingly summer. Managing that contrast without turning the shoot into a stream of confused sunbathers wandering into frame was the real challenge.
The Approach
We worked around the beach's rhythm instead of against it. The absurdity was the point: a model in winter styling against a sunbathed shoreline had to read as intentional, not accidental, so every frame leaned into the contrast rather than hiding it.
The Result
A multi-chapter editorial for ELLE Bulgaria that turned a logistical headache — a public beach at peak season — into the campaign's strongest visual joke. "Winter is Coming" became a story told entirely through contrast: cold styling, summer light, and a beach that refused to cooperate with the concept.
